I found the job posting online and applied. A recruiter from the local office called me within two days to schedule a phone interview. This initial call involved going over my resume and experience, with a brief overview of the role. Less than two days later, I was invited for in-office interviews. This part included four 30-minute sessions: one with two managers and three with a single manager each. Most of the interviewers (4 out of 5) were managers in the Data Analyst division. Each interview followed a similar pattern: a review of my background, followed by questions about my personality. All the interviewers seemed knowledgeable and friendly. I thought Morningstar would be a good place to work. Within two days of the in-office interviews, I had two phone interviews with the main office in Chicago for the Data Analyst position. These were short, focusing on the role, my interest in Morningstar, and how my experience aligned. The Senior VP was a bit late for the second call but apologized. The whole process felt very relaxed and easygoing. After the final phone interviews, I was told within three days that the position was filled, but that they'd contact me in a few months about other openings.

I just had 1 round of interview, if you are appearing for the interview, i would suggest please read everything possible related to mutual funds and equities/stocks , it will be related to that , and some basic technical knowledge related to how to whitelist and such questions. I tried to answer most of the question , few i did not but i don't know, i didn't get any communication from their side, but the interview was all about this. basically this role is all about having knowledge about finance and more on mfs and equities side, what is legal document for these , what is 10k report this they asked because i made some project, and yes do read about the company and its products , i had very good knowledge of this and answered everything related to this but i don't know what went wrong , may be they wanted more finance knowledge or may be because i do not have much of finance experience, they were preferring finaced professional having 2 3 years of experience as well , so this is it , i hope it would help a lot of people

The interview process started with a phone chat with HR on campus. Then, there was a full day interview in Chicago which included four 1:1s. The first round had mostly behavioral and fit questions, focusing on building rapport and explaining why you want to work for Morningstar in the "name of position." The second round involved dinner at HQ with HR, current employees, and MDP candidates, mainly for gathering info for the next day. The interview day featured firm presentations about Morningstar's business and culture, followed by four 1:1 interviews with Managers, HR, and a previous MDP participant. The recruiting process was very well organized and ran smoothly.
