Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Morningstar.
Analyst
Started with an intro phone call that was conversational. Had some behavior questions, but it wasn't too structured. The flow and questions seemed fitting for the role. Afterward, I was given a presentation/case to work on at home. The task was to review a business solution and present the best option. I then emailed it to the team for their review.
- Can you tell me why you're interested in working here?
- What's your background?
Summer Analyst
The interview was online. It was easy to set up, but I had to concentrate to connect well with the interviewer virtually. To do this, I focused on speaking clearly, adjusting on the fly, and being my genuine self.
- Can you introduce yourself?
Senior Analyst
It was awful and disorganized, no personal emails, everything is automated and all over the place, felt more like dealing with a messy startup than a public company. They said an interview invite in the middle of the day, and plan my day accordingly. I wait 15 minutes in the zoom room and no one shows up. An hour later I get a rejection email, it was a waste of everyone's time.
