Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Morning Consult.
Research Associate
I applied to Morning Consult near the end of May and started the interview process around mid-June. The first step was an initial 30-minute phone screen. After that, the company sent two deliverables to be completed within 24 hours. Once those were done, there was a 75-minute goal/technical skills interview and then another 60-minute behavioral interview. My experience interviewing with Morning Consult was very positive. Everyone I spoke with was kind. The questions asked were relevant to the job description. If you prepare, you will do well.
- Can you share an instance where you made an error?
- Describe a situation where you had to have a challenging discussion with a colleague or team member.

Had a 30-minute screening call, then got an assignment to do in 24 hours. It took about 4 hours to finish, assuming you know excel and powerpoint. Next, there was a 75-minute interview with 2 team members. After that, a final 60-minute interview with 2 more people from the team. It was a really good experience, everyone was friendly and easy to talk to. They asked some tough questions, but it didn't feel too stressful, more like chatting with a colleague. I was happy with how it all went.
- Can you share an instance of a past failure and the lessons you took away from it?
- Describe a situation where you had to collaborate with a challenging individual and how you managed that dynamic.
- Can you give an example of a project where you took the initiative and led it, and what was that project about?

It was a phone screen, then two take-home assignments that took me nearly 24 hours to finish. After that, two more calls with the team. I wasn't thrilled about spending so much time on the take-homes without getting any feedback on what I could have done better or why I was rejected.
- Describe an instance where you overcame a difficult situation.
