Project Engineer
Got contacted pretty fast after applying, like 2-3 days till the interview. It was a short process, just met with 3 VPs (Operations, HR, and the main VP). Each chat was about 20-30 mins, just talking about my past work and resume stuff, nothing too wild. To finish, there was a test covering scheduling, estimating, and Change Orders (COs). They wanted a schedule made with some rules, then an estimate for concrete footings/walls using given prices for concrete and dirt moving. Lastly, I had to write a CO letter to some made-up company owner based on a cost estimate they gave. Got the offer 2-3 days after that.
- Can you tell me about your greatest accomplishment?
- Could you create a project schedule given these specific constraints?
- Using the provided costs for concrete and soil hauling, please estimate the cost to construct the footings and walls for a concrete structure.
Project Engineer
I was an intern at Morley Builders in the summer of 2011 and had the chance to get a formal interview with the company. On the day of the interview, I had a quick chat with the HR Manager since I already knew a good bit about the company. Then, I took a test to assess my skills in different project engineering areas. After finishing the assessment, I had one-on-one talks with three of the company's heads. They asked me a bunch of questions about my past work and my resume. That was the end of the formal process, and they told me I'd hear back within a month.
