First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Morley Builders.
Executive
It was a really professional, organized, and thorough process, very methodical, aimed at making the best decision for both Morley and the candidate. They focused on skills and experience, and also behavioral aspects. It felt honest and transparent, giving me all the info I needed to make a good choice when the offer came. I met with key leaders and the President, doing about 8 interviews in total, plus dinner! They answered my questions openly. Everything they told me during the process turned out to be true once I started, no surprises.
- Can you explain how you ensure impartiality and a perception of fairness in your role and for the department's focus?
- Describe a time you failed, how you handled it, and what you learned from the experience.
Project Engineer
Got contacted pretty fast after applying, like 2-3 days till the interview. It was a short process, just met with 3 VPs (Operations, HR, and the main VP). Each chat was about 20-30 mins, just talking about my past work and resume stuff, nothing too wild. To finish, there was a test covering scheduling, estimating, and Change Orders (COs). They wanted a schedule made with some rules, then an estimate for concrete footings/walls using given prices for concrete and dirt moving. Lastly, I had to write a CO letter to some made-up company owner based on a cost estimate they gave. Got the offer 2-3 days after that.
- Can you tell me about your greatest accomplishment?
- Could you create a project schedule given these specific constraints?
- Using the provided costs for concrete and soil hauling, please estimate the cost to construct the footings and walls for a concrete structure.
Instructional Designer
Submitted my resume and then was invited for a panel interview with HR. It was mostly a chat, with lots of back-and-forth questions. It went by fast and was enjoyable. After that, I got an email with a TKI Assessment to gauge my collaboration style and team fit. A few days later, I had a second panel interview with the VP of Operations and IT Director. This one was more standard, with a string of technical questions, mostly asking about how I'd handle hypothetical scenarios. After hearing more about the role's details, I decided it wasn't the right fit and pulled out.
- Can you share examples of leadership styles that are ineffective for you?
- How would you approach hypothetical situations?
Internship
The interview had a welcoming and friendly vibe, really showing off the company culture. They asked about my past experiences and how I'd handle certain situations. They explained the role and asked some questions related to it. They also made sure to set aside time for me to ask any questions I had.
- What's your approach when receiving constructive feedback on your work?
