First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Morgan Sindall Group.
Design Engineer
The online application was simple. After that, I was invited to an assessment day with about 15 people. We met the team and had a Q&A. Then, we were split into smaller groups for different tasks. One task involved creating a presentation for young students about STEM, which was fun. However, the interviewers observing us seemed disengaged, talking amongst themselves and one even left, so I felt they missed key interactions. The assessment day concluded with an individual interview with an engineer and an HR member. Before the individual interview, we were given 15 minutes to examine a site and decide if it was suitable for crane loading, and if not, if a crane platform made of granular material was needed to enhance bearing capacity. The site information was poorly organized, leading to unequal preparation times depending on when people were interviewed. Additionally, candidates could leave the room, potentially researching on their phones, which felt unfair to those interviewed earlier. There was a significant waiting period, at least an hour of silence, as we waited for each person to finish their interview. The individual interview covered general competency and CV-related questions, which were straightforward. The interview felt informal, and I was led to believe it went well, with positive feedback and a promise of a quick response. However, the outcome, received a month later instead of the promised two weeks, felt disingenuous. I'm still waiting for feedback two months past the promised timeline.

- Could you tell us about your interests and hobbies?
- What are your career aspirations for the next five years?
Construction Planner
The interview process was quite relaxed and not overly stressful. I spoke with both the pre-construction manager and a senior planner. The interview was scheduled for 45 minutes but went on for 90 minutes, and I had the opportunity to ask my own questions.
- Can you start by telling me about yourself?
- Could you describe your experience in your previous role?
- Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
Quantity Surveyor
After submitting an online application, I had a phone call with someone from Morgan Sindall. This was followed by an invitation to an assessment day. Before the assessment day, I had to complete some online psychometric tests. The assessment day itself was in London and took about 6 hours. It included a group activity where current employees observed us. There was also a Q&A session with current graduates and a 60-minute interview that covered both my CV and some scenario-based questions. The whole day was really well organized, and everyone I met was super friendly.
- Could you explain the responsibilities of a Quantity Surveyor?
- Tell me about an experience where you collaborated well within a team.
- What makes you want to work specifically at Morgan Sindall?
Finance Graduate
The hiring process started with an initial application where I uploaded my CV and answered some questions about why I'd be a good fit and what I could bring to the role. Next were the Numerical Tests, which involved timed sets of multiple-choice math questions based on provided bar charts and graphical data. The Assessment Centre was the main event, running from 9 am to 3 pm. It included a group exercise, a case study with a short individual presentation, a competency-based interview, and a more general interview. The day itself seemed well-organized with many company staff present. My experience was negative because I was never informed whether I was successful or unsuccessful, nor was any feedback provided. My emails requesting feedback were ignored. We were also told expenses like travel and accommodation would be reimbursed, but I had to send multiple emails and make several calls (all ignored) to find out when I'd get my money back. It took over a month after the assessment centre for the money to appear in my account, with no communication about it.
- Can you share an instance where you led a team?
- Describe a challenging situation you faced and how you managed it.
