It was a pretty standard interview process. First, a phone screen where they asked the usual stuff like 'tell me about yourself,' 'why you applied,' and 'what you’re looking for from your next position.' Then, they scheduled an in-person interview a few days later with the Regional Property Manager. During that meeting, they went into more detail about the job and asked about my long-term plans in property management. They also asked about my salary expectations, which were a bit higher than their budget, but they were open to negotiating. They seemed happy with me and offered me the job on the spot! A few days later, I got the official offer letter. The background check was thorough; they contacted all my references and even tried to reach out for more when they couldn't get a hold of the initial ones. They even called me to clarify an address from my past that was on the background check, as it didn't quite match up with my resume timeline. I finished my drug screening within two days of being asked, and I started the job about one to two weeks after getting the offer.

It was a huge waste of my time. The recruiter and hiring manager were great in the first two rounds. They mentioned the role wasn't as creative as I was looking for, but I continued. The third round was the opposite. The Director was condescending and repeated the "boredom" concern from earlier interviews due to the lack of creative marketing. I knew what I was applying for. The Director said I might not be what they were looking for in her opening remarks, making it seem like it was for my benefit. The role she described felt different, and she nit-picked minor responsibilities I wasn't 100% experienced in, which hadn't been mentioned before. It felt like she had already decided and I was just there to prove her wrong.

I sent my resume in online and got a call the next day. Then I had to do an online assessment. After that, I was called for a face-to-face interview. Based on what my coworkers said, I must have done really well in the face-to-face because they had two face-to-face interviews.

I interviewed with the Regional and Property Manager. My process was a bit easier than most because I was an internal candidate. You still have to apply with an application and submit it through the proper channels, starting with your immediate supervisor. They will then forward your application to HR. It then gets passed to the property manager that is hiring for review.
