Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Morgan Lewis.
Associate Attorney
Had a virtual interview with the practice group chair at another office. It was a good chat. The partner mentioned they'd check on when I could speak with the partners in my actual office. I followed up with HR, and they said they'd discuss it and let me know, but I never heard back.
- What makes you want to switch to this practice group?
Attorney
It was a very thorough review process, starting with mid-level associates and going all the way up to the hiring partner(s). They were really focused on relevant experience and the quality of my work. They were particularly interested in my background in China law and seemed less interested in US JD backgrounds without China legal education or experience. The team has worked together for a long time across multiple firms, so they're very stable.
- Regarding your strengths and weaknesses as a lawyer, what are your top three of each?
Associate Attorney
The interviewer at the NYC office seemed self-absorbed and only spoke about himself and his achievements. He didn't seem interested in learning anything about me beyond what was on my resume. Because of his uppity and elitist attitude, I decided to accept a position with a different firm.
- Were there any basic questions asked before the interviewer began talking about himself?
