First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at MOO.
Product Manager
I went through a pretty long interview process. It started with a screening call with the in-house talent team. After that, I had a 1-hour Zoom interview with the Head of Product, followed by another 1-hour Zoom interview with the Head of Engineering. The last part was in their Camden office where I did a task for an hour and then had a cultural interview focusing on company values. Everyone I met was really professional and friendly throughout. I didn't get much feedback on why I wasn't selected, but it seems like a great company, and I'd definitely consider interviewing again if a suitable role comes up.
- Can you share an instance when you had to manage a challenging stakeholder?
Product Manager
I had a first call with a recruiter. Some of the questions felt like they could have been answered with a simple yes/no on the application. After I apparently passed that, I was supposed to have a follow-up interview with the hiring manager. What was disappointing is that they contacted me the day before the interview to say they weren't moving forward because the hiring manager had second thoughts about a hybrid working model. I get that companies decide on their working arrangements, but it's unprofessional to inform a candidate the day before an interview that they've changed their mind about the role's setup. I took time to prepare, and it didn't reflect well on what I thought was a good company culture.
- What motivates you to work at MOO?
Product Manager
I was approached by a headhunter for an interim role at Moo. First, I had a Skype interview with the hiring manager, which went well. He then wanted me to meet other team members, so I was invited for a 3.5-hour interview with 5 people, including future reports. This was for a 3-6 month interim role. I did a lot of research and understood their product management approach, drawing on my 20 years of experience. The interviews were straightforward but detailed, considering the role's seniority. I shared transferable examples and strategic insights. I also spoke with someone from another department, learning about concerns that the team wasn't delivering, which raised cultural issues. After a long and time-consuming process with delays in feedback, the recruiter said no, claiming I lacked product experience, despite my 20 years. It soured my view of Moo, as they seemed disjointed and disrespectful of people's time.
- What's your approach to prioritization?
