Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Montefiore Medical.
Registered Nurse
I applied online and then got an email for an in-person interview. The HR manager and the nursing manager were both really nice. For the nursing manager, you should be ready for clinical questions. The HR person also gave me a 30-question nursing exam, which was pretty easy, like 15 med math questions and 15 general med questions, all multiple choice. HR asked typical behavioral questions too.
- Can you share an instance where you exceeded expectations to care for a patient?
- What is the preferred site for subcutaneous injections?
- What is the most common location for Sub Q injections?
Registered Nurse
Getting a job with montefiore is super hard and it's even joked about during orientation. You have to interview with HR, then the manager, do two exams, a drug test, background check, and a Physical. They schedule all these things on different dates and at different montefiore locations all over the Bronx, which is very confusing.
- Tell me about a time you went the extra mile for a patient.
- Have you ever been late for a previous job, and how did you handle it?
- What would your past managers say about you?
Registered Nurse
They first asked me some questions about myself, like my strengths, why I was interested in this specific unit, and how I handle stress. Then, they moved on to clinical questions, asking about various patient scenarios, such as what I know about sepsis and different medications.
- Could you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
- What are your strengths and weaknesses?
- Tell me about your strengths and weaknesses.
