I applied for a X Designer role and had an initial interview. After not hearing back, I followed up and was informed I didn't get the X Designer role and was instead offered a Y Designer role. I accepted the Y Designer role and had to complete an online test with many tasks, which felt like free work. I submitted it incorrectly, and the interviewer made me apologize formally, which seemed like micromanagement over a submission error, not a task error. I wasn't selected for the next stage after this, and the reason wasn't given. I suspect the company might be exploiting the interview process for free work, and advise other designers to be cautious.

The process started via LinkedIn with a recruiter who reached out. After I showed interest in learning more about the offer, they contacted me again by phone. They asked me questions about my general work experience, then about my experience in the digital area, and finally, they asked me questions in English to check how suitable I might be to continue with the process.

A confusing process, led by an art director with little experience and know-how in the area. The interview doesn't absorb anything from the candidate. Also, the tests are poorly briefed and explained.
