Before the interview, I was given a pre-employment assignment. After finishing my project, I got a rejection email stating my work/style was not what they were looking for, which is fine. However, it was a bit time consuming since samples were already in my application. I get that the company was looking for a compatible fit, but it would have made more sense to schedule the assignment after an appropriate evaluation (and at least an interview) or by simply reviewing my resume. So I applied online and then got a project to do where I had to write in different styles. It was cool they wanted to see my work instead of just reading my resume. Then I had my first in person interview with the HR manager and a copywriter. They asked about my experience and how I wanted to grow. It was nice to talk to someone already in the role. After that, I had another in person interview with a copywriter, HR manager, and data lead. They asked about my work experience, creativity, and career goals. It was a little intimidating but gave me a real feel for the company. I got to ask them questions too. When I asked them what their favorite part of working there was, they all gave different answers, not the usual stuff. The creative person talked about growing their skills, the HR person talked about the team, and the data person liked numbers. It was a long and kinda scary process, but I think they really want to find people who fit their culture and community.

About a week or two after I applied, I was asked to do some sample copy for a few jobs. A few days after that, they called me in for an interview. I had two interviews in two weeks, meeting different sets of people each time: the hiring manager, the Creative Director, the CEO, and others. Everyone was really nice and laid-back. The questions were about half copywriting stuff and half about me as a person, both at work and outside of it. I felt like they were checking my personality fit for the company culture as much as how I could help the business with my skills.
