Monitise Interview Questions
& Process

The process started with an online job board application. Then, I received a call to schedule an interview with HR. We discussed personal details, work experience, the job offer, benefits, and working hours. The interview was friendly, relaxed, and punctual. They sent me my psychometric assessment results.

The interview process was pretty standard. I first got a call from HR for a phone screen, which was scheduled for a specific time. Then, an engineer called me. The next day, I received an email to schedule an in-person interview at their San Francisco office, which is in a great location. The onsite interview took about 3 hours and included engineers and a PM, followed by HR. I got an offer email from HR saying the team liked me. I tried to negotiate, and HR said she'd talk to the manager and get back to me in 2-3 days, which was after the offer was supposed to expire. Then, HR emailed again saying they'd chosen another candidate because that person asked for less money. I found this really unprofessional for such a reputable company. If they couldn't negotiate, they should have just said they had a fixed budget from the start, instead of delaying me and then saying they found someone cheaper. They should focus on employee quality, not just getting work done as cheaply as possible.

Monitise seemed really interested at first when I applied. The first interview was super basic, like 'What's your strength?' and 'Where do you see yourself in 10 years?'. Then the second round, with two interviewers, got a bit more specific. The first person was fine, but the second one was really unprepared and asked weird stuff, like 'What do you think about documents?'. When I asked about downsides, she just said 'All the jerks who work here'. After that, the recruiter said they'd get back to me. Two months later, still nothing, so I emailed him. He replied saying they thought I'd be good for the role but might outgrow it, and I lacked passion for their space. He even suggested my not replying to his original email showed this, which was weird because there was nothing to reply to. They also never gave me a clear job description, even though I applied because the title sounded cool.

So, the interview process had two stages. A recruiter from Linked reached out to me about an iOS Developer opening at Monitise. After we chatted a bit, they sent my resume to the company. A couple days later, I had an in-person interview, which I think went really well. They mostly asked about iOS frameworks and Objective-C. I had to write some code on the board and talk about which iOS frameworks I've used and why. They also asked about the differences between SAX and DOM parsers and when to use each, plus some MRC questions. All in all, it felt good.
