First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mondi Group.
Operations Lead
It was a bad experience. The recruiter call was fast and conversational, but then it took two weeks and a reminder to get the hiring manager call. The hiring manager was tough, making it feel like an interrogation. I got a rejection email two weeks later, citing experience I actually have, which I mentioned in the interview. The recruiter's clarification was a template response. For a senior role, I expected constructive feedback and clear communication, not a templated rejection.
- Tell me why you want to work here.
- Walk me through your previous work experience in detail.
Manager
I was contacted by the company for this upper management role. The interview process involved three stages, including a report I had to complete for the final interview. I'm not sure if that's even allowed. When asked why I wanted to work for them, I responded by saying they reached out to me, so I wanted to know their reasons for wanting me. It's understandable they're still looking after all this time, as their interview process is quite inflexible and conservative. Offering an all-in contract is also a poor strategy, especially considering the expected 60-hour work week at Mondi. Good luck to them.
- What motivates your interest in joining our company?
Sales Manager
The interviews were polite and friendly. The whole interview lasted 30 minutes, covering their presentation of the company, my personal presentation, and a Q&A. They asked if I was married, which I found strange given it's a job. When I asked about the timeline for a decision, they said within 10 days. I never heard back from them even after 35 days.
- What was your reason for leaving your previous employer?
- What do you expect to gain from this role?
- Are you married?
Content Specialist
Started with a recruiter chat over Zoom, then a second chat with the recruiter and hiring manager on Zoom too. The final round was in person with the internal recruiter, hiring manager, and the person leaving the role. This last bit involved doing an assignment and then presenting it.
- Tell me about yourself in an informal way.
- Can you describe your leadership experience?
- Share a difficult situation you faced and how you got through it.
