& Process

It was a pretty long process. First, I filled out an application, then completed an online questionnaire about my competencies and motivations. After that, I had an on-demand video interview where I could re-record until I was happy with it. Then came a phone interview lasting about 30 minutes, followed by an assessment centre. For the assessment centre, I had to prepare a presentation beforehand and then participated in a group exercise and an interview. The assessment centre day itself was actually enjoyable; the company really tries to show you why you'd want to work there by letting you talk to current interns and see how much they like their jobs.

The whole interview process took over 3 months, which felt way too long. The initial phone screen was the first round and it was pretty tough, focusing heavily on technical questions and digging deep into my resume experiences. I'd recommend being well-prepared on your resume details. The interviewer in this round came off as arrogant and rude, making me uncomfortable. If I passed that, the second round involved 1:1 interviews via Skype with 7 scientists and managers. They seemed to follow a script, mostly asking behavioral questions about handling issues and interacting with people, though some touched on technical aspects too. It's a good idea to know about the company and the job requirements – one interviewer gave me a hard time for talking about Mondelez history instead of Cadbury when asked about the company. Thankfully, most of the second-round interviews were pleasant. One person mentioned they hired someone with more experience than me.

I got contacted about a job because someone I know referred me. Then I had a couple of phone calls with the heads of the departments. After that, I had a formal interview over skype that lasted for 3 hours. Within a week, they got back to me with a job offer.
