First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Modell's Sporting Goods.
Sales Associate
The interviewer told me about the company's history and then asked me some questions about sports and the job. They also asked if I had ever shopped at Modell's before.
- What's your favorite sports team?
- Have you ever shopped at Modell's?
- Tell me about yourself.
Sales Associate
I applied at the end of August and they contacted me via email because I think I put the wrong phone number. I called and she scheduled me for an interview, I went in on a Tuesday and she asked me basic questions like why I wanted to work there, to describe myself, and what my past jobs would say about me. After I impressed her with my personality, she told me I did well and to come in for a second interview with another manager the next day, which she warned might be more intense. I went back in and they asked me more difficult questions. But I guess I did well and he told me to come in for the paperwork. I did that today and I guess she will call me for when I am put on the schedule. Don't be nervous or shy, speak up and you'll do well. Talk their heads off.
- What are some words that describe you?
- If I were to call your past jobs, what would they say about you?
Sales Associate
I applied online and was contacted by phone a couple of days later and asked to come in. I arrived the next day, about 15 minutes early for my scheduled interview. I ended up waiting around for about 30 minutes before my interview started. My interview was in an office, though I noticed someone else being interviewed next to the jeans display! The interview itself was brief, with about 4 questions asked. They seemed to really value having a lot of questions prepared for them, which they emphasized was important.
- Tell me about yourself.
