Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mode Analytics.
Recruiter
My interview process with Mode was pretty straightforward. After an initial call with the head of talent and a longer face to face meeting I was invited onsite to meet the team. The coordinator was super transparent and clear throughout the scheduling process, and I left the onsite round feeling super excited about Mode's culture and vision. The company values really came through in all my interviews, and the questions the interviewers asked were thoughtful and didn't feel generic. Overall a really smooth process, I was never left hanging and I happily accepted the offer :)
- What is recruiting not supposed to be?
Recruiting Coordinator
The recruiter was really uninterested throughout the whole process. The call was super short, like 10 minutes max, ending as soon as I answered a question. It was clear she didn't care. She gave me the bare minimum info about the company and the job. She seemed bitter about the previous RC who left and is now coming back. It was super obvious she was just asking questions to find reasons not to move me forward. She doesn't seem to get the candidate experience or try to help people.
- What are your thoughts on scheduling numerous individuals?
Recruiter
Mode's interview process was pretty transparent. They really focused on culture and had straightforward chats about what I was looking for and if it was a match for Mode. Culture seems important, but they also checked my ability to do the job. For the role I applied for, there were a lot of role-play and situational questions where I had to problem-solve. I liked that there weren't any weird questions, unlike some Bay Area tech companies.
- Could you role-play qualifying a newly opened job with an engineering manager?
- What steps would you take if you received too many inbound applications?
