& Process

I went through three interviews and then they ghosted me. First, I spoke with a recruiter who was pretty responsive for a bit. Then, a phone screen with HR. The third interview was in person at their San Diego office with HR and the Chief Legal Officer. That in-person interview went really well and felt smooth. At the end, they asked for my availability for the rest of the week to talk with the CEO. I sent it right when I got home, cc'ing the recruiter. After that, nothing. I followed up with both HR and the recruiter that Friday, giving them my availability for the next week since we couldn't connect that week. Still nothing. They totally ghosted me, both the recruiter and HR. Definitely says something about the company.

The process started with a timed Excel modeling assessment that was expected to take an hour. After completing this, I had a recruiter call, and unfortunately, I was rejected within 24 hours despite them saying they liked my work.

There were several rounds of interviews. The first one was remote and went well. The second one was also remote, but conducted from their office with interviewers joining from overseas. The office had a strong mould smell. The interview was conducted on a small laptop with poor audio, and the laptop unexpectedly shut down mid-conversation. I was also given a written IT test that seemed okay. I felt embarrassed for the company during this interview.

We started with a 30-minute chat with a Senior Global Talent Partner to talk about the project and my background. After that, there was a 30-minute interview with the Senior Manager Software Engineering where we went deeper into my technical background and how it fits the project. Finally, I had an hour-long session with some senior engineers from the team, which was a Q&A focused on the technical skills needed for the role.
