English Teacher
Applying for a supervisor role here is a joke. If you're not already close with the hiring manager, don't bother applying, you'll just end up disappointed. If you're not already connected with the leadership and trying to impress them, this job isn't for you.
- What insights have you gained from your recent personal scripture study?
- Analyze the case study concerning MTC transport vans.
- Describe your approach to specific job-related scenarios.

The interview process was pretty drawn out. First, you have to teach a 10 minute lesson on a Preach My Gospel principle. You either have to go to the MTC to teach it to two teachers in person, or you can make a video of yourself teaching two people and send it in for them to rate your teaching. If they have openings and your rating is good, they'll then call you for an interview with a teaching coordinator, which usually happens weeks after the rating. In that interview, they'll ask questions and give you different scenarios to test your teaching skills further. I had an interview with one person, and it was a good experience. They had me pretend to walk into a classroom with missionaries acting out and I had to teach them the doctrine about why behaving better is important. This interview really focused on the doctrine of Christ and the Spirit. Since my schedule didn't match the shifts available with that teaching coordinator, he suggested I interview with another teaching coordinator about a week later who had shifts that worked better for me. I interviewed with this other coordinator a week later, and this interview was different and not as pleasant. It was just her, whereas the first interview had the coordinator and two teachers. She asked fewer questions, and the interview was mostly roleplaying with her. She had me roleplay teaching her about a scripture, talking to a missionary about their bad behavior, and teaching an investigator. She was much less focused on the Spirit and more critical of my teaching method. I guess you never know what you'll get with these interviews. The tough part about applying at the MTC is that it can take weeks to get the job because they only bring you in for an interview when positions are open. The good thing is they keep your application for a year, so if you don't get it the first time, you might have another shot later.
- Can you share the most significant lesson you learned during your mission?
- In your opinion, what qualities define an effective MTC teacher?
- Prepare and deliver a 10-minute lesson on a principle from Preach My Gospel.

The hiring process is pretty standard. They will ask a lot of behavioral questions and for personal experiences from your mission. They have you apply online and then you go in for a recorded teaching experience. They then evaluate you on your teaching skills and your application is sent to a hiring training coordinator. The coordinator will then have you come in for a group interview and rank you against other candidates. If you pass this interview you will then be invited for a group panel interview with the manager of training and training coordinator and they will see if they like you. If you pass all of that and there is an opening they will hire you. It is best to apply in the summer, that is when there are the most openings.
- What did you learn on your mission, and how will you use that to teach missionaries at the MTC?
- How will your mission experience help you teach the missionaries here at the MTC?
