I had an online interview first, and then they emailed me about a month and a half later for a Spanish evaluation. I did that over zoom. Within a week after that, they texted me and invited me for an in-person interview. There were 5 other people in the interview with me. They mentioned they'd respond within a week, but they didn't. I had to call them back, and they still didn't get back to me. About two weeks after that, they finally responded.

It was pretty simple and direct, with basic questions and a role-play at the end. Wasn't too stressful. Good idea to be ready with a range of scriptures. It starts with introductions, then goes into the logistics, then you discuss your mission and your reasons for wanting to teach at the MTC. It finishes with a role-play and then an evaluation.

They did some communication checks, asked about my best skills, and wanted to hear stories of resolving inter-office conflicts. Also asked about my ability to use excel, scheduling, and planning. Had to demonstrate skills to organize projects. They also asked what I would do in an emergency call from someone about XYZ happening.

The first interview was like a 10 minute teaching demo. You've got 10 minutes to teach a lesson to 2 people who are rating you. Make sure you tailor your teaching specifically to them, not just a general lesson. Ask questions that are inspired and give each of them specific invitations to commit. Share your testimony often and promise blessings. The second interview was with 2 training coordinators. They'll ask you a bunch of questions, and then you'll do a role play. In my interview, I was the teacher and the two training coordinators were the missionary companionship. They were having a hard time with effective companionship study. You need to ask inspired questions and guide them so they can figure out for themselves what God wants them to do.

  • In what ways has your two-year mission experience influenced your personal growth?
