First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mission Rock Residential.
Accounting Manager
I was called for an interview after following up on my application. It was with 2 people, the residential controller and someone else who didn't introduce herself. It lasted less than 50 mins. They both seemed uninterested and disengaged, not warm at all, so it was hard to tell if they were serious about my application. One of them turned off her screen mid-response, then turned it back on and laughed at something else for the rest of my answer. Then the other interviewer told me not to give such detailed answers, and the first one sarcastically said thanks for the 'detailed response'. It felt unclear and a bit unprofessional. I tried to connect my background to the role's goals, as described by the controller, and said I was excited to join the team, but they didn't seem interested. They mentioned an accounting skills assessment at the start and again during the interview, but never did it, even though we had about 15 minutes left. I applied because I liked the company's values and culture, but this interview didn't match, so I'm unsure about the company's culture, team, and environment. I was offered a lateral role with the VP but declined. I still appreciate the opportunity and talking with the VP, and wish them well.

Accountant
The interview process was pretty normal. First, I had a phone chat with HR. Then, I interviewed with some of the accounting managers. Before the in-person part, I had to do a couple of online tests, and during the in-person interview, I was given a written test.
- What is your preferred management style?
Accountant
Started with a general accounting knowledge test, then I had about half an hour with the Assistant Controller and some Accounting Managers. They asked some general behavioral questions and questions about skills, like how I handle deadlines.
- Do you have experience meeting deadlines?
