Software Engineer
The hiring process involves several interviews (each about 45 minutes to an hour) to assess your technical skills and personality. For me, it included: HR Screening, Technical Interview, Technical Interview, Situational Interview, and another Situational Interview. While the number of interviews might seem like a lot, it's very structured using the STAR method, which helps organize your thoughts and experiences. Everything is clearly explained beforehand with provided documentation, so you can prepare well. The interviewers are supportive and will guide you back on track if you stray from the topic or requirements.
- Can you share an instance where you failed with a client and describe your reaction?
Software Engineer
So, the process started with an HR call, then a technical skill assessment, followed by two STAR method interviews and one final technical interview with my future manager. All in all, it was 5 interviews. The whole thing took less than 3 weeks from the first contact to the offer. The STAR interviews are non-technical and focus on past challenges or interactions and how I handled them. My experience with these was mixed. One went great because I had good examples that highlighted my strengths. The other one, I got bogged down in painful examples and talked about a shaky company context, which wasn't really flattering. But overall, I think it's a good interview format because it forces you to talk about concrete things. And it's probably a solid way for Mirakl to check team interactions and candidate values. The technical interviews were good. I felt like the discussions weren't too academic or trying to trick me.
- Have you ever had a conflict with a client, and if so, how did you resolve it?
Software Engineer
The initial recruiter chat was pretty engaging. The scheduling email even included some helpful documents about the company, the STAR method, and a link to a database index talk, which really got me hyped. The next interview, a technical one with a senior engineer, was the complete opposite. The interviewer seemed unenthusiastic, maybe due to the sheer volume of interviews they conduct daily. It was a straightforward Q&A, with no real opportunity to ask my own questions or be challenged. It felt like a test of pure knowledge. Even when my answers were off, there was no feedback or correction. The interviewer was also multitasking on their laptop, and there were awkward silences after I finished speaking, indicating they weren't fully present. So, two interviews with vastly different vibes.
