Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mintel.
Client Service Associate
The interview process was quite unprofessional. It started with a recruiter phone screen, who was nice and asked basic questions. Then, I moved on to the hiring manager, who really needs to learn how to interview. She was late, cut me off, and asked questions I'd already answered. Her manners were bad, and she didn't ask anything about my qualifications or how my experience fits the role. She didn't let me ask any questions and ended the call early, even though she was late to start. Honestly, the hiring manager was the worst.
- What makes you a strong candidate for this position?
Client Services Manager
I applied online and heard back from them about 3-5 days later. First, I had a recruiter call which was great - they were super communicative. Then, I spoke with the hiring manager, and it went well. They said they were looking forward to an in-person interview. But, the next week I got a generic rejection email. I reached out to the recruiter for feedback, and they told me they had promoted someone internally. I appreciated that. I did apply again for other roles and the recruiter was still helpful. I didn't end up getting an offer from Mintel, but it was a good experience and I'll keep checking for openings there.
- Can you tell me what about your experience makes you a good candidate for this role?
Client Services Manager
A recruiter initially contacted me about a different position. While the salary wasn't ideal, a second call with another recruiter led to an offer for a role that better aligned with my career aspirations. Following a subsequent phone screen for this new role, I spoke with the director. Shortly after, I met with the director and my predecessor (who had moved departments) and delivered a presentation on a topic of my choosing. After about an hour of discussion about market research and expectations, I was extended an offer the next day. The communication was great throughout the process, and I really appreciated HR suggesting a role they hadn't initially considered me for. I'm excited to start!
