This was probably one of the most disorganized interview processes I've gone through. It started with a technical interview conducted by a third-party company called Karat. The question was a bit tricky, but I managed to write code that worked and handled corner cases, which was actually a pleasant experience. After that, I received an email from a recruiter about an onsite interview. However, shortly after, I got another email stating that due to the holiday season and people being out of office, they wanted to conduct two phone screens instead. The questions in these phone interviews were considerably easier than the initial Karat screen. I was particularly confused by the first question, which involved the Fibonacci sequence; I wrote an iterative solution, and then the interviewer asked for a cached version, which was quite perplexing. I don't recall the second question precisely, but I did stumble a bit, though I eventually arrived at a working solution. I'm disappointed that my earlier performance on a more challenging, less gimmicky question was overlooked, and they ultimately decided not to proceed. This left me with a pretty negative impression, and I ended up accepting a better offer elsewhere.

The whole interview process was pretty straightforward and standard. Had an initial call with the recruiter, she was very friendly and informative about the underlying role, expectations and interview process. First interview was a 45 mins technical phone screen via Karat.com. This was followed by a 30 mins call with the hiring manager. In couple of days I was invited onsite for a day long round of interviews. Onsite interviews were a total of 4 and lunch, these were a mixture of white-board coding challenges, system design questions, day to day work scenarios, general experience queries and a culture fit round. The whole process took 2-3 weeks.

It was a 5-round interview process that stretched out over 6 weeks. First, I had a behavioral interview with the hiring manager. Then, a tech screen with a principal engineer, which was a mix of behavioral and system design. After that, a system design round with a senior engineer. I also had another system design round, this time with a staff engineer, which included some behavioral questions. The final round was a behavioral interview with a VP. Honestly, the middle rounds felt pretty similar and could have probably been combined into just one. After such a long process, I got a generic rejection email with no feedback, which was a bit disappointing. Impersonal rejections are common nowadays, and I don't mind them much if they come early on, but after 5 rounds over 6 weeks, I'd expect something a bit more tailored or specific.
