I got a call the day before the interview. I arrived an hour early. The interviewers were punctual. They took my portfolio and led me to a well-lit, comfortable room. After introductions, they asked me to introduce myself. I was asked the standard 'Tell me about yourself' question.

It was a pretty standard interview process, nothing too complicated. The questions were tough though. They did a background check on me. The interviewer was nice and the environment was good. I'm not sure how else to describe it. I've definitely said enough words.

Behavioral Presentation

The interview had a few parts. First, I had to write a short essay about a tricky topic, like the boundaries of intimacy between teachers and students. Then, I gave a 5-minute presentation showing how I'd teach a lesson. During the presentation, the interviewers pretended to be difficult students trying to throw me off, like asking 'teacher why do we need to listen to you when our exams are next week?'. Finally, we had a more standard interview where they asked some usual questions and discussed my essay answers.

You'll start with an application form that needs all your personal details and a 500-word essay. If you pass that stage, a psychometric test is next. After that, an interview will be set up, usually in about 2 to 3 weeks. You'll hear back about the interview results roughly 3 to 4 months later.

  • Could you describe the attributes that constitute an effective teacher?
