Product Manager
So, I got this unexpected call from the manager, then an interview with HR, followed by a phone interview with the Manager. Then there was an onsite interview with several people. The overall vibe was pretty good. The first call totally caught me off guard, wasn't planned. The onsite was pretty standard, though. They asked the same stuff over and over. The last interview with the hiring manager's boss didn't go so well. They hit me with some tough questions and seemed pretty annoyed. A couple of the interviewers were also kinda quiet, making it a bit awkward.
- What aspect of this role do you think you might find challenging?
- Can you tell me about a difficult situation you encountered in a past job and how you dealt with it?
- How do you decide which product features to work on first?
Product Manager
I applied online and first got a call from a recruiter about 30 minutes, mostly covering general experience questions, salary expectations, and if I was okay with relocating. Then, about a week after, I had a phone interview with the hiring manager. They asked me about my technical background and my fit for the business/marketing aspects. After a couple of follow-up calls, I was invited for a full interview day. They handled all the travel arrangements. I had dinner with the hiring manager and some colleagues the night before. The next day was packed with about 7 or 8 one-on-one interviews, each lasting 30-45 minutes, with people at different seniority levels. I also had a call with the original recruiter. I was asked to give a one-hour presentation on a technical topic, with time for questions. Most of these interviews were behavioral, but some were situational, like, "Imagine you had to do X, how would you do it?". We had a lunch break with catered food. It was a really long day, but everyone was nice and it was a good experience overall.
- How would you find and secure expert authors for a publication featuring 3-4 technical review articles and relevant product highlights in a specific scientific field?
Product Manager
I had an HR phone interview where they asked about my motivations for the job and my past work experience. Then, I spoke with the hiring manager(s) on the phone for a more in-depth discussion about my key accomplishments relevant to the role. The final stage was an on-site interview, which lasted about 4 hours. They covered my travel expenses. During this interview, I met with the hiring manager(s) and other stakeholders to discuss the role in detail and how my skills would align with achieving the company's goals.
- What would you accomplish if you had an unlimited budget to achieve your objectives, and what is your reasoning behind that plan?
