Applied on Indeed and got an email the same day to set up a phone screen. The person doing the screen canceled the day of and wanted to reschedule. Gave her a list of days and times and told her Mondays were bad. Didn't hear back until Friday afternoon of the next week. She asked what time I was available on Monday. Offered two times even though I already explained that Mondays were bad. Didn't hear back. About 1.5 weeks later, got a calendar request for the phone screen and we did the phone screen then. It was obvious she didn't read my resume, because she asked me what degrees I had as well as if I had skills like working with pumps (my resume shows the types of pumps I've worked with and the pump projects I've done). She asked if I used AutoCAD, which I do, and is also listed under my technical skills. Also asked for a skill that wasn't on the job description post, that they really needed, but I was only 50% at, so they should have put that in a job description. Expected a rejection because of this experience, and got one shortly thereafter.

I had a recruiter call first to talk about my interest and check my background. Then about a week later I had a phone call with the hiring manager where he went over the job duties and asked more about my experience. Finally, I went in person and met with around 5 people on the team who asked me about myself and some behavioral questions.

  • What would you do if someone on your team wasn't contributing to a group project?
