First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Middough.
Process Engineer
We had an online video interview and then an in person interview. It was simple and easy, and I got to meet the team before accepting or denying the offer. Everyone had great communication and did a good job selling their company on why it would be a great place to work.
- Describe a situation where you had to make a difficult decision and explain how you managed it.
Sales Recruiter
I applied online and then got contacted by someone from HR in Oak Brook. The interview process kicked off with a phone screen, and then the next week I had an in-person interview. Before the onsite, they had me fill out a hard-copy application asking for details about my past jobs and my salary history. They said the salary history was the main reason they needed the application. The interview itself was about 45 minutes, and the HR person was a little late. It was a good, casual, and open conversation. The person I spoke with was filling in for their regular interviewer who was out. I was told I'd hear back by the end of the week, but then got an email saying they needed to wait until the next week. It's been 4 weeks and I still haven't heard anything. I guess the job is filled, and their 'I'll get back to you' probably meant 'if you get the job, otherwise we'll just ghost you.' It wasn't a great experience.
- Walk me through your background, starting with your most recent job, and tell me about each position and your salary history.
Manager
The interview process included one-on-one meetings with people from various departments and the HR manager. It was professional and thorough until the HR manager asked me to complete an application that required my salary history from previous jobs, not just my salary expectations. HR said Middough needs this info for background checks and that it's required for consideration. I feel this salary history request is inappropriate and irrelevant because factors like job duties, location, market, total compensation, company costs, billable rates, and the economy all influence salary ranges differently between companies. A company that tries to use this information to get an advantage in salary negotiations, rather than building trust and respect, is setting itself up to compete against its employees. This practice makes me want to look for other opportunities.
- Could you provide your past salary information?
Instrumentation and Controls Engineer
First up, there's a phone interview that's pretty short, like 15-20 minutes, just asking about your background. Then, a Teams interview, about an hour with 3 people, covering both technical and behavioral stuff. If that goes well, you'll have an in-person interview within a week. Getting to the in-person stage means they really like you and are likely to offer you the job.
- Could you walk me through your experience?
- Tell me about a past failure and what you learned from it.
- How do you handle juggling multiple projects annually?
