MICROS Systems Interview Questions
& Process

I was hired at an open house advertised on Craigslist. I filled out a short application. I had an initial interview where they reviewed my resume and application. A few minutes later, I had a second interview with upper management. I got along great with that person, so there weren't many questions. Then, they directed me to computers where I had to type in a LONG application that required a copy of my resume, cover letter, and reference information. Two weeks later, I found out I was hired. Before starting, I had to take a drug test at Labcorp, so I suggest finding one in advance as not all Labcorps offer this testing.

I applied online and got an email for a phone screen which was pretty standard. They asked questions based on my resume and it lasted about 15-20 minutes. After that, I got an email for a face-to-face interview. There were three separate technical interviews with different managers and QA leads, plus a written test. The questions were both technical and general. They wanted to know about me and also expected us to ask them questions. The written test involved testing interviews and writing test cases for something like a 'Mobile' dropdown on some forms. The next day, I got an email saying I passed the interviews, and 7 days later, I received the offer letter. The entire process spanned about 3-4 weeks.

The recruiter reached out first to discuss salary expectations and if they were negotiable. I was then referred to a manager who scheduled an interview for later that week, specifically Feb 14th. I asked the recruiter about dress code and what to bring, and was told to 'just bring your professional self'. The interview itself involved meeting with the help desk manager and the team, followed by a meeting with the IT manager. During this, it was emphasized that massive overtime would be expected, and as an exempt employee, I wouldn't be compensated for it. I confirmed this was okay as long as my salary expectations were met, though my specific number was never asked. I was told I'd be contacted about the outcome. After sending a thank you note, I heard nothing back. A follow-up email also went unanswered for 19 days. My take away is a lack of care for employees and poor manager-employee communication, leaving a bad impression.

The process was pretty straight forward; apply online, two back-to-back interviews and a tour of the building, preliminary offer, then a background/credit check. HR was a bit frustrating to deal with, as they were hard to get in touch with to coordinate the interview and didn't check my references until a couple days before I was supposed to start. The interviews themselves were simple, one on one interviews where they talked about the company and position for a while, then asked general experience and IT questions. Both interviewers were very friendly and laid back, and it was nice to only have to go to the office once.
