First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Micron Technology.
ASIC Design Engineer
The interview included some basic digital design questions, some questions about DDR memories, and then some questions about the training and calibration of the PHY and memory interface of LPDDR5X memory. There were also some general aptitude questions and some logical reasoning questions.
- Regarding LPDDR5 PHY, is it backward compatible?
DRAM Product Engineer
First, I had a Zoom call with the recruiter who offered great advice on how to connect with the hiring manager, emphasizing their value for teamwork and team fit. Following that, I had a 1:1 with the hiring manager discussing my background and what I'm looking for. The last two rounds involved two panel interviews, each with three interviewers. They focused on technical questions covering DRAM operations, CMOS logic, and coding in a language of my choice. I really enjoyed the process; it felt more like a conversation and I felt a good connection with the team. The interviewers were supportive, even guiding me on difficult questions. Although I made it to the final stages and liked the company culture and team dynamic, I was disappointed not to get an offer as the role became unavailable after two weeks.
- For a complicated dynamic CMOS circuit, please provide timing diagrams.
ASIC Physical Design Engineer
I applied online after hearing about the role through campus recruitment. I spoke with a technical recruiter, and then the hiring manager called me about 2 days later. After about 2 long months, I had an on-site interview. It was a very friendly interview with 4 people, each session lasting 50 minutes. They mainly asked technical questions related to VLSI, Device Physics, and Programming. I felt I answered most questions well, and a senior engineer seemed quite satisfied. However, the last interviewer mentioned they were in a hiring freeze, which was disappointing, even though they also said I was a very strong candidate.
