Had a quick phone call to set up an in-person interview. Then, a general job interview covering strengths, weaknesses, motivations for joining the company, and contributions you could make. They asked about how your background aligns with the company's needs and your own career goals. You'll be notified about the outcome, but they won't reach out if you're not selected.

I applied online and about two and a half months later the director got in touch for an interview. When I got there, I had to fill out a super detailed paper application, like work, education, and references (definitely bring your resume copies and reference contacts!). First, I chatted with the director who told me about the company, the job's hours, pay, some perks, and what a clinical associate scientist does. Then, I met the microbiology lab manager. He asked about my micro experience, and since I didn't have much, I talked about my lab classes. He explained the job more and gave me a quick quiz on general microbiology. Everyone was really nice and easy to talk to; it felt more like a chat than an interview. No typical behavioral stuff, though.

Got a call from the lab supervisor a few weeks after applying, but I missed it. We rescheduled for the next week, but they missed that call too. Instead, they decided to bring me onsite the same Friday. The interview itself was pretty easy. What was disappointing was the HR followup. They sent a message that felt like a lie, saying they were still reviewing applications and interviewing candidates on an ongoing basis, even though I had already interviewed weeks before and the job was posted almost a month prior. I don't mind standard rejection emails, but HR outright lying is not cool. Overall, I connected with the lab supervisor and the interview was decent, but the HR department needs to fix how they handle rejections. They should send actual rejection emails instead of saying they are starting to interview people, which is misleading. It's naive to think they'd only consider one candidate; interviewers often mention interviewing others, and I've still moved forward in those cases.

It was a pretty straightforward phone interview. They asked typical interview questions and really stressed how important it is to follow procedures. I heard back about three weeks after applying and got the offer just three days after that. The whole thing was just the one phone interview, and they gave me the offer right then and there.
