I went through a hiring process for an Electronics Technician role (2 openings) at a tire manufacturing company in Rio de Janeiro. The company structured the process into 5 stages: selection, pre-interview, technical test, interview, and business panel. The commute from my place is 3 hours, involving two buses, a train, and an Uber, costing around R$50. The hiring manager insisted on an in-person process, and it seemed like he wasn't very tech-savvy. I had to go to the company twice for the panel and technical test, even though the panel could have been done on the same day as the test since it was just a company presentation followed by a discussion of professional experiences. If the company presentation had been on the day of the test, I wouldn't have needed to make an extra trip, but the manager said it was crucial to meet in person for a better understanding. FOR THE MANAGER, IT'S EASY, THE COMPANY SENDS A BUS TO PICK HIM UP AT HIS DOOR! The test covered Electricity, Basic Math (SINE, RIGHT TRIANGLE, TRIANGLE AREA, etc.), and Basic Electronics (SCR, Rectifiers, etc.). The interview with the manager included an oral exam where I had to draw electronic circuits and explain how they worked, along with other equipment specific to the company.
