First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Miaplaza.
Instructional Designer
I coordinated with them via email. We set up a Zoom meeting. After that, I was given some mini assessments to test my skills. I didn't get the job, and I guess it might be because I have a Master's degree.

I wish the script assignment had come before the phone interview. I've always struggled with phone interviews, and they don't reflect my true abilities. It felt frustrating to be judged on something I'm not strong at, instead of being able to showcase my skills through the assignment, which is more aligned with the actual job. Phone interviews can be nerve-wracking and don't always capture a candidate’s skills. The script assignment would have been a better way to demonstrate my abilities. It seems backwards to judge someone before giving them a chance to prove their abilities through the work itself. Just because someone doesn't interview well doesn't mean they can't do the job. I believe evaluating the assignment first would lead to a more accurate and fair assessment.
- What strengths do you bring to a workplace that values DEI?
Curriculum Developer
The interview process had five steps if you were successful: resume review, a pedagogical assessment, a 1:1 HR interview, a sample assignment, and then a Zoom interview. I got to the fourth step before they rejected me. A lot of people had trouble with the pedagogical assessment, but I thought mine was fair and a good test of knowledge and skills, not unreasonable to do before the first interview. The interview itself was positive and lasted about 30 minutes. They didn't volunteer much about the job, but they did answer my questions pretty well. I also don't mind doing a work sample, but I'm not sure they don't use failed candidates' assignments for curriculum, which is a red flag for me. They got back to me pretty quickly after I submitted my work, so that was good. Looking back, the whole experience, including their messages, felt a bit too positive, almost fake sometimes. Because of this, I wouldn't recommend this company.
