It was two rounds, first round was with 2 or more people that checked my documentation and saw if I was a good fit. The second round was with the department manager who made the final decision, and gave me some insights.

The hiring process was very smooth and standard. They conducted a background check and asked for two references from prior employees. If you couldn't provide those, references from former professors were also accepted if you'd attended college or university.

I'm an outsider, never worked for MDC before. The first interview was brief, around 10-15 minutes. Then I had a second interview with the Department Director. After that, I was asked to write a memo-style letter to faculty and staff. They also requested references, ideally from my current supervisor. In the end, I had to inform my current manager about my job application because I provided their contact information. I found out the job went to a current part-timer, who happens to be a director's wife. It's frustrating to go through this when they seem to prefer internal candidates. I missed a lot of work hours for these interviews, only to discover that college policy requires them to interview outsiders even when they favor insiders. It feels like a waste of time; it's all about connections. Don't bother applying!
