The interview process had one round where I met with the program director and her secretary. We discussed my interests and motivations for teaching, how my practical experience could be applied in the classroom, and I had to do a mock teaching session on a topic of my choice.

The interview process was very quick, kind, and efficient. We went through credentialing and degree reviewing first, so the hard part was done early. It only took about 15 to 30 minutes and happened within a few months of applying.

I had a 15-minute slot scheduled in the morning, and then I was interviewed by three people. After that, I had a quick one-on-one with the boss. The office was about 10 minutes behind schedule for the interview, which was a bit of a downside.

Behavioral Presentation

So the interview process was like this. First, I met with a search committee of four people. Then, I had a second interview with the Dean of the Faculty and the Department Chairperson. The last step would have been meeting with the campus president. The first interview with the search committee was mostly about teaching at a community college, like how I'd help students who are struggling and what teaching methods I'd use. They also had me do a short ten-minute sample lesson. The second interview, with the Dean and Chairperson, was more about how I'd get involved with students, do research, and contribute to the campus and department, not so much about teaching itself.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • Could you share your experiences that have prepared you to teach at an Open Access institution?
  • How would you assess your potential for success in the classroom, and could you provide a specific example of such success?
