First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mezocliq.
Director
The initial phone chat was brief and to the point. The in-person interview was, as others have noted, quite awful. You're asked to arrive early, but then you're led to a glass conference room where everyone can see you feeling awkward in a hot room. They make you wait about 30-45 minutes between each interviewer. To make matters worse, one of the interviewers was incredibly arrogant, playing a game of tossing M&Ms into the air and catching them in his mouth. It was really unprofessional, to say the least. Honestly, I'm not even sure if they have a working product on the market right now. At that point, I knew I didn't want to go any further with the process.
- Could you start by telling me a little about yourself?
Director
I learned about this company through a personal connection and contacted the hiring manager directly. We scheduled a meeting for the following week. The whole process felt quite relaxed and enjoyable. In total, I went through two interview rounds and spoke with eight individuals, including the CEO. While it was challenging to get a clear sense of the company's direction, the people I met were highly intelligent and came from diverse backgrounds, which presented an exciting chance to be part of something new. After meeting with several Principals and Directors, I was asked to present a demo of the product, which was very helpful.
- Can you share an example of a process you developed that represents a significant achievement in your professional history?
Director
It started with a recruiter who was pretty vague but made the role sound intriguing. The actual process kicked off with a hiring manager, who they call Principals. It quickly became a technical deep dive where I had to prove myself. Then I met with about 3-4 other people. The company's big vision wasn't super clear until the last interview with the CEO. The CEO was incredibly sharp and asked questions in a unique way, using allegories to understand me better rather than standard interview questions. It was tough to keep up, but it gave me a much clearer picture of the vision, culture, and my potential role.
- Can you describe the most challenging technical problem you've overcome in your professional experience?
- If you had to prioritize, how would you rank money, enjoyment, and accomplishment?
