& Process

So first I had this online interview, it was like 1.5 hours. The first 30 minutes was with HR, then an hour with a technical software engineer. He asked me about my resume and experiences, then we moved to CoderPad where I solved a leetcode style question. After that, I got to the final round, which was a pretty long 5-hour in person thing. It started with a tour and some QA with the HR head. Then I had two 1-hour interviews with software engineers. They both asked me some questions and then had me do leet code questions on a whiteboard. After that, I interviewed with two directors for an hour. They also spent a good amount of time talking about my experiences and finished with a leet code problem. Finally, there was a "demo" meeting where a software engineer presented a problem and asked how I'd approach it before showing me their solution.

The interview process was in three parts: first, a phone chat with HR about my background and softer skills. Then, a video call with a research scientist where we went over my PhD work and I solved a problem. The last step, which I didn't get to, was an on-site where I would've presented my research to the team and met with various people.

It started with a recruiter call. Then I had a 1 hour meeting that was half behavioral with a technical question at the end. The last round was 5 hours long. It had 3 rounds that were behavioral / technical, then they did a software demo of their product and finally a wrap up call with HR to answer any questions. The leetcode style questions were math heavy. Not hard to come up with any solution, but you'll need a good math background to solve them optimally. They called me saying I was rejected.

I applied online and the HR team was pretty demanding for an entry level position. They first had me do a 30 minute phone screen to talk about my background. After that, I was invited for a full business day of interviews. This included a presentation of a data science project I was proud of and 5 other interviews with their advanced data analytics team. The recruiters mentioned they're usually fast at making decisions, saying you'd hear back by Monday if you interview on a Friday. However, after 2 weeks, they didn't reply to my email asking for an update. To top it off, Glassdoor notified me about a job posting for the same Data Scientist position at Metron that I'd applied for over a month ago. I contacted the recruiter and they awkwardly explained the position was closed because they didn't need it anymore and thought I'd been informed.
