Manager
So I had this interview for a Manager role, and honestly, it was a mess from the start. The recruiter was super negative and acted like they were doing me a favor, even though my background totally fit the job. They low-key told me the salary was only for 'special' people and then gave me a salary range that wasn't even in the job ad – big red flag, especially since the job's been open forever. Then came the TestGorilla thing, where it recorded me the whole time, video and audio. They didn't really explain this upfront, and it felt really invasive for someone experienced. I did well on it, but it showed a lack of trust. The whole thing got shut down because of a 'failed credit check.' I've worked in finance internationally for years and always pass background checks, even at places with way higher standards. I gave them the address info they asked for, but they rejected me before even looking at it, and their form wouldn't even let me input the correct address details. So, the salary bait-and-switch, the recruiter's attitude, the creepy recording tests, communication breakdowns, and rushing the credit check – it all felt really poorly managed. It seems like the problem isn't finding the right person, but internal issues with how they hire.
- Regarding the credit check, can you provide more details about your address history?
Risk Manager
It's pretty chill, and while they're definitely checking your technical skills, your attitude is super important too. Usually, there are two parts to it: first, you chat with the People/HR folks, and then you meet with two of your potential colleagues.
- Could you share an instance where you exceeded expectations to deliver outstanding customer service?
Risk Manager
The interview process involved 2 rounds of interviews and 3 online tests, though the tests felt pointless. There was also a credit check that didn't seem to follow GDPR rules for this stage. The first round was a screening call with HR. The second round was a video call with the hiring manager and another person, where they mainly asked STAR questions, which didn't really help assess skills. Feedback was provided quickly and in detail.
- Can you walk me through your CV?
- What motivates your interest in this position?
- Can you describe a situation using the STAR method?
