So I had this interview for a Manager role, and honestly, it was a mess from the start. The recruiter was super negative and acted like they were doing me a favor, even though my background totally fit the job. They low-key told me the salary was only for 'special' people and then gave me a salary range that wasn't even in the job ad – big red flag, especially since the job's been open forever. Then came the TestGorilla thing, where it recorded me the whole time, video and audio. They didn't really explain this upfront, and it felt really invasive for someone experienced. I did well on it, but it showed a lack of trust. The whole thing got shut down because of a 'failed credit check.' I've worked in finance internationally for years and always pass background checks, even at places with way higher standards. I gave them the address info they asked for, but they rejected me before even looking at it, and their form wouldn't even let me input the correct address details. So, the salary bait-and-switch, the recruiter's attitude, the creepy recording tests, communication breakdowns, and rushing the credit check – it all felt really poorly managed. It seems like the problem isn't finding the right person, but internal issues with how they hire.

The interview process was great, it gave me a chance to share my experiences and a bit more about myself. I was able to highlight my skills, my way of working, and how I could tackle different situations at Metro Bank. For instance, how to improve customer service, customer interaction, solving queries and others. Most importantly, zero tolerance for any negative behavior is not allowed, and I always make sure that everyone is included and respected.

Behavioral Technical

The process started well with timely HR communication and a quick interview scheduling. The interview itself seemed to go well. I was initially told I'd hear back within two weeks, standard procedure it seems. However, after two and a half weeks, I had to follow up, and it took another two days for a response. The feedback was unsatisfactory, stating I didn't provide enough evidence in my answers. When I questioned why the interviewer didn't ask for clarification, the response implied I should have somehow known what they wanted to hear. Ultimately, it felt like a waste of time and effort, and it's clear ageism is still a significant issue in the job market.

Behavioral Technical Case

I went through 3 rounds of interviews. It started with an HR interview, then an online interview with the division head, and finally an onsite interview that included a technical assessment. The last round was a 3-hour session at the head office where I met with the division head and a senior manager. The interview covered motivational questions, my professional background, and a technical assessment focusing on my knowledge and views regarding the UK market.
