& Process

The interview process was pretty straightforward. They asked some questions about the orientation video, like what I thought of the job and what it entails. Since it's a Spanish interpreter job, a portion of the interview was conducted in Spanish to check my speaking and interpretation abilities.

The interview was a waste of time. They required a very specific regional dialect as part of the job, where you would be required to take a language test. THIS WAS NOT MENTIONED IN THE JOB POSTING AT ALL. They tried to get away with it by saying you need to be familiar with "local slang." That is NOT the same thing. The interviewer literally said they left out a CRUCIAL skill for the job because they "needed more people to apply." Completely unprofessional and beyond misleading -- the job posting was purposefully deceitful.

I applied and within a day a recruiter from Metlang emailed me. I had to sign a form to proceed. Right after signing it, they scheduled a phone interview. This interview was pretty standard, and the recruiter was nice. They asked about my work history and my knowledge of English slang. They also talked about the job and the pay. Less than 20 mins after that call, the recruiter set up a second interview over Skype with someone else. Before that, I had to do and send in a 1-minute typing test. The second interview was longer than the first. The interviewer was also friendly and professional. I had to watch a Metlang orientation video beforehand. The interviewer asked questions based on that video, and also about my background and how I'd handle job situations. For instance, they asked about prioritizing tasks like transcribing, summarizing, and talking to law enforcement about dangerous audio intercepts. I told them I'd contact the assigned LEOs. The interviewer said that was the right answer. Overall, the interview was simple, and I got a better understanding of the job. At the end, they said I'd get a contingent offer, and I know I'll have language exams and a security check next. Excited to get started!
