The application process was very long, almost like a written interview with too many questions to answer. After that, the Head of People scheduled a 30-minute 1:1 where I was expected to watch their YouTube video about what they do. During the call, the interviewer seemed impatient, like they didn't want me to waste their time and just wanted me to answer their questions. After the call, I emailed them saying I wasn't interested in joining. My take on the company culture is: 1) They seem to want someone who will work around the clock, but the interviewer mentioned it's a 9-5 job, which I suspect isn't the reality. 2) There was no clear explanation of the role itself. 3) It seems the manager is expected to do a lot of groundwork plus all other managerial tasks.

The company did not conduct an interview. Instead, they requested that I submit answers to 9 questions as part of the application. After I submitted my answers, I received a very generic rejection email. I found this to be unprofessional and inconsiderate of my time, as these questions required hours to complete, not just a few minutes. The rejection email stated: "Thank you so much for applying for our VP of Project Management position. Unfortunately, we won't be moving forward with your candidacy. We appreciate your interest in working with us. Please be sure to check our career page regularly for additional opportunities. We are growing and always looking for great people to join our team. We wish you continued success in all you do!"

Metabolic's hiring process is really thorough and takes a while, so keep that in mind. I actually liked how intense it was because it let me really show off my skills and if I was a good fit. Here’s how it went down: First, the application with some long screening questions (took about 30-60 min). Then, a 15-min video interview. After that, an IQ test (60 min). Then, I had to do work samples (30 min to get them ready to send). Next was an interview with the CEO (they gave me 30 min to watch a video beforehand, then the interview was 60 min). After that was a challenge project, specific to the role, which took 3 days to complete, plus a 30-min video explaining it. Finally, I had an interview with the VP and COS. The whole thing took 23 days from applying to getting the offer. It was a lot, but I got to show what I could do, learn about the company, and the team kept me updated almost daily. They even told me how many other people were still in the running, which felt good. It was a unique process, and I felt it was valuable no matter what. If you don't have the time or aren't up for a detailed process, maybe don't apply. But if you're serious, go for it – there's a lot to gain.

The submission part was quite a handful and took a lot of time, involving several essay-type assignments before I could even talk to their Head of People. The chat with Jason (HOP) was great, he was super professional and I really enjoyed our 30 minutes. A lot of the questions he asked were the same ones from the application. Then came the part where I had to submit actual work samples, which was kinda fun going back through past projects. I didn't make it past that (I think there were like two more interview/task rounds left). All in all, it was tough but enjoyable. But if you're short on time, I'd say steer clear, otherwise, you might just end up frustrated.
