Worked as a Global Wealth Management intern for the summer. The atmosphere is relaxing and the FA's have flexible schedules. No due diligence sessions and no long weekends. Wealth Management is the best division to go to if you are looking for work life balance. As an analyst intern, your responsibility is limited due to the lack of credentials (IE can't tell clients financial advice). As an FA, wealth management will pay however much you want, it all depends on the number of hours you put in. The interview consisted of some fit questions, and of course the classic "fit" question. "Why Merrill Lynch?" "Tell me about a time you worked in a group."

Behavioral Presentation

I applied through my university job portal and got an email about two weeks later about a first round phone interview. After that call, we set up my second round interview in New York. Since it was for wealth management, the first interview questions weren't super technical, mostly behavioral stuff to see my personality and if I was interested in the firm.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • What draws you to wealth management?
  • Could you outline a potential business plan you'd develop as an advisor here?
  • What are your career aspirations for the next 5-10 years?

It was pretty simple. First, I had a phone call with the advisor I would be reporting to. Then, I interviewed with that advisor and another person from management. The interviews felt pretty relaxed, not as tough as I had imagined.
