Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Meritage Homes.
Sales Representative
After applying, I had a phone interview, then a virtual interview. Both HR and management were really nice and easy to talk to. Follow-up was a bit here and there during the process. Overall, it was a decent experience.
- Can you describe a time you had to handle an objection from a customer?
Sales Representative
I had one interview with the Division President and Sales Manager. Since I had a lot of industry experience, it felt more like I was selling them on me rather than them selling me on the role. Looking back, I wish I had shadowed a sales rep for a day because the interview wasn't totally upfront about everything.
- What makes you a better candidate than other sales representatives?
Sales
If they don't like you, meaning, you need to be attractive, super, over the top, positive, or they won't hire you. Must go through many people to get a job. Difficult process. Fail the personality test, forget it. They weigh negatively on bad credit, which is not hard to find these days. If you can put on a good show, smile a lot, and they think you are going to bite on the odd culture, be their puppet on a string, you might get the job.
- Can you explain the negative remarks on your credit report?
