The interview process was online and scheduled. I received the interview details and meeting link by email the day before. The interview panel ran the interview professionally, and it was well-organized and went smoothly.

Confirmed questions2 questions

  • In the second half, they asked about basic ML concepts.

Behavioral

The headhunter contact was good, very professional and direct. The job description made the role seem really good. But the interview process was a mess. For the second round, two HRBPs were supposed to be there but no-shows. Someone else, a third person, did the interview instead. It was quick and shallow, just a couple of behavioral questions, no real chat or deep dive into the role. It made me question how things are organized there because of the poor communication about the panel change.

So I interviewed with Meril for an Industrial Designer role. The process involved a take-home assignment that was pretty involved, taking about 1-2 days. After that, I was surprisingly asked to redo the entire assignment without any feedback or clear instructions on what they wanted. This meant another 1-2 days of unpaid work. When I questioned this, HR tried to pressure me by saying things like 'other candidates are also doing this,' which felt more like intimidation than a fair process. Honestly, one assignment should be enough to judge someone's skills. Asking for the same time-consuming, unpaid work repeatedly without clarity or deadlines felt unethical and exploitative. Pros: None really, as it didn't get past the assignment stage. Cons: The whole process felt exploitative, lacked transparency, and HR used intimidation tactics. I'd advise other designers to get clear expectations upfront before committing to long assignments here.
