Interviewed with the manager and a staff member together. They spent most of the time explaining their department and asked how I would handle a physician yelling at me during a case, and how I would deal with a peer conflict. I toured the department, the ICU, and met several physicians. They mentioned having more candidates and would decide in 2-3 weeks. I called HR after 3 weeks and the Head of HR didn't know the status, said she'd check with the manager. I never heard back. I emailed the manager to check on the status, but still no response. It felt unprofessional.

I had a lot of trouble getting through to anyone real with the HR or online application. I kept getting a rejection email within hours. I called HR multiple times to ask why I wasn't being considered anymore, and the HR Hiring Team Representative told me "the hiring managers don't specify why they don't pick someone and if they only say they will accept 100 applicants you will automatically get a rejection letter." I asked, "and if one of those 100 applicants are not qualified or pass background checks then what?" The HR Rep responded, "you'd have to reapply." I then mentioned that "I have reapplied and the system tells me I already applied for the position and it was determined that (I) was no longer being looked at as a candidate due to certain reasons and I should consider to search other openings within Mercy." The HR Rep said, "the hiring manager usually keeps resumes on file for 90 days or so and if they are interested they would contact me." I then pointed out, "that's odd because after 2 or 3 weeks I will see a "new posting" on my job search boards." The HR Rep finished by saying, "I guess you'll just have to keep trying."

For my interview, there was a panel of interviewers so for me this was a bit intimidating. Not knowing if I should focus on the person who asked the question or all 3 of them. I may have been overthinking the whole process but all in all it wasn't so bad.
