First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mercury Systems.
Software Engineer
I had an interview scheduled with Mercury, but they were absent due to a calendar mix-up. We rescheduled, and I had a screening call. After asking for updates, I got to schedule an interview with a manager. On the day of that interview, they asked to postpone by an hour, which I agreed to, and they sent an updated meeting link. When I joined the meeting at the new time using the updated link, I was left waiting in an empty room again. They said they would look into what happened but offered no solution or rescheduling.
- Could you explain the virtual keyword in C++ OOP?
- What's the distinction between a struct and a class in C++?
- Can you list some C++ STL containers?
Software Engineer
I was interviewed for a contract Software Engineer role focused on enhancing a new switch product. The interview provided a high-level understanding of the company and the rationale behind the new feature. I met with several interviewers, which allowed me to connect with potential colleagues. The interviews focused on how I could add value to the project and leverage my past experiences.
- Regarding spanning tree correctness, what verification methods would you employ?
Senior Software Engineer
The interview had three rounds. The first was about algorithms; if you've learned algorithms in school or solved easy problems on LeetCode, it should be fine. The second round was a technologies part, which was basically the hard one; you really had to understand core Java.
- Can you explain the difference between a linked list and an ArrayList?
