Program Manager
The internal recruiter, Rachel, did a quick screening call, then set up a zoom interview with the hiring manager. After that, I had two more zoom interviews with different directors, and then an in-person visit to the site with the hiring manager. Finally, I got an offer. Rachel was super responsive via text and kept me updated, making it a pretty smooth process and a good transition after the offer.
- How would you manage conflicting priorities and tasks?
Principal Program Manager
The interview process focused on assessing my background and experience, alongside determining if the role and company were a good mutual fit. This approach felt refreshing and helped ease the typical interview tension by centering on whether it was a good match for both me and the company.
- Can you share your reasons for wanting to leave your current employer?
- What motivates your interest in joining Mercury?
- What makes you feel this position and Mercury are a suitable match for you?
Program Manager
It was quite a long process, seems like they were trying to replace someone who left. I spoke with several different department leads. Some of them didn't even seem to know why they were there. A few were nice and seemed genuinely interested in getting to know me better. Others didn't bother to read my resume and asked some really strange, off-topic questions. During the interviews, everyone made a point to mention that the organization is full of "A" personalities, which I took to mean they're difficult to work with, and that the expected work hours were 60-70 per week, indicating a poor work-life balance. They didn't seem to get that I was interviewing them too. I made sure the HR person knew this before I left. That's probably why I didn't get an offer, as I would have declined anyway. No remote work or flexible hours were offered. The environment was very formal. Their medical and dental plans were also quite expensive.
- How do you feel about working with highly assertive individuals?
