First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Merck KGaA.
Senior Software Engineer
I had two interview rounds and they went well. Unfortunately, after the second round, HR didn't get back to me. I reached out via email and was told the HR person in charge was unwell and that I'd been rejected after the second round, even though I felt it went well. If they were concerned about compensation, they should have addressed it before the interviews. It was a bad experience.
- Data Structures, Algorithms, Multithreading, and project-specific questions were asked.
Senior Staff Software Engineer
3 to 4 rounds of interviews happened. The manager lacks the necessary skills but is conducting technical interviews. The panel should be fair and hire based solely on skills, not on personal connections or region.
- What are potential pitfalls?
Software Engineer
It was a two step process. The first round was a technical round, and the second was an HR round. They asked basic questions about the biomedical text mining process and about my research area.
- Can you describe a previous project you worked on in biomedical NLP?
