First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Mercer.
Business Analyst
So, there were 3 rounds in total - 2 technical and 1 managerial. This whole thing spanned over 3 weeks. After that, there was an HR discussion where we talked about salary and then they mentioned a client round would be scheduled. But, like, a week after the HR chat, nothing was scheduled, no email replies, and the HR people just stopped picking up calls. HR-1 was for recruitment, HR-2 was for salary/finance stuff.
- Tell me about yourself.
- What were your responsibilities in your last role as a Business Analyst?
- Do you have experience with SQL?
Business Analyst
I interviewed through on-campus recruiting. The job posting advertised two positions, a general analyst and one in the communications track. However, the interviewers only knew about the general analyst position and seemed confused when I mentioned applying for the communications track, explaining it as an 'internal reorganization'. Although both interviewers were friendly, I felt I was interviewed for a role I wasn't fully qualified for, leaving me confused and uninterested. The first interview was a 'fit' interview focusing on my resume and interest in Mercer. The second was an unusual case interview involving questions about graphs and tables.
- Regarding the graphs, what is the relationship between these tables?
- Could you please determine the mode of these cells?
Business Analyst
The process kicked off with a 30-minute phone screen with a recruiter. Following that, another employee contacted me to set up an onsite interview, which was scheduled for two days later. The onsite involved meeting with four current consultants and actuarial analysts, with each meeting lasting 30 minutes. Three days after the onsite, I received an offer. Overall, the entire process moved quickly and was very efficient.
- What are you excited about?
- Describe a situation where a plan you created did not go as expected.
