I applied online and then got a call back. After that, I interviewed with all the managers in my department. Then I took an online test and an offsite drug test. It was a simple process.

It started with a Hirevue after I applied online where I recorded video answers to 5 questions. Then, a panel interview was set up with 6 people. I got a practical assignment on Friday night at 8:30 PM, due Monday at 9 AM, which is when I backed out. I never spoke to a recruiter or hiring manager and my questions about the pay range were not answered.

Technical Behavioral Presentation

It seems like Mercedes is trying to hire younger, less experienced people, maybe 25 and under. The interview process feels more suited for call center or assembly line jobs than for executives, and so do the salaries. This isn't a knock against the company if that's their goal. With the move from NJ to Atlanta, they're probably aiming for high-volume hiring. However, the common saying 'fast, cheap, and good—pick two' seems to apply here. You start with a short 1:1 HR screening, then do Microsoft assessments, followed by a video interview. If you pass those, you get to the assessment stage, which is about 3 hours long and has two parts. First, you meet a company rep who shares a lot about their personal experience with the company. Then, you do quick rotational interviews with executives. The process itself is fine, but you don't really know what you're interviewing for, the questions are very basic, and you hardly get a chance to talk about your achievements. It's all very generic. If one person runs late, your time might get cut short because the interviewer is likely still writing notes. I'd be surprised if the new Atlanta staff isn't having performance issues. This method is great for hiring inexperienced people for low-skill jobs, but it's unlikely to identify someone's true abilities or evaluate past performance. I left feeling like I wasn't truly known and hadn't learned anything about the company that wasn't already online. It was like eating angel food cake – sweet but not very filling. Mercedes is a great company, and I'm sure it will stay that way. If you're experienced, you might want to look elsewhere, but if you're a young Millennial looking to add a big name to your resume, this is a good chance.
